Nikola Zaric

Nikola Zaric, a Vienna-born musician with Bosnian- Serbian roots began to play the accordion at the age of seven. He received his basic musical education at the music school Radosavljevic and then moved to the Gustav Mahler-Konservatorium in Vienna. After completing secondary school he studied instrumental and vocal pedagogy as well as Concert Accordion at the Franz Schubert-Konservatorium in Vienna.
He took part in international competitions, in which he won numerous prizes. His extraordinary talent was widely acknowledged and soon allowed him to play in several ensembles. Already at the age of seventeen, he founded his own orchestra and performed at international events. By mastering a wide stylistic range of musical genres he was predestined to find his main field of activity in World Music, in which types like jazz, samba, tango, klezmer, oriental music etc. flow together. He developed numerous projects ( Invisible World Quartet, Duo Turumtay Zaric,Duo Vila Madalena etc.) and revealed himself as a young, innovative musician, who, owing to his profound knowledge of different styles of music and the mastery of his instrument, was able to harmoniously overcome borders between various musical genres.
He has a special affinity for the folk music of the former Jugoslav countries, and is internationally regarded as an expert in this field. Apart from his artistic performances he is employed as an accordion and piano teacher in various music schools.
At the age of 16, he became interested in classical Viennese music and made his first appearance in this particular area. The cooperation with Peter Widholz, the president of the Johann Strauss Society of Vienna, was groundbreaking for hisĀ further career. In 2023, he was among the founding members of the Johann Strauss Concert Schrammeln of Vienna.
